WHAT IS ICYD?

Please see our ICYD specific website for more information about ICYD – icyd.org.uk

ICYD (International Competition for Young Debaters) is a debating competition in the British Parliamentary Format that was set up to encourage younger students to take up debating and to give them a chance to debate against students of their own age, with motions more suited to them.

The hosting of the tournament alternates between the Oxford and Cambridge Union Societies, and this year we are happy to announce that it is Cambridge’s turn once more.

It is open to all students in Year 10 and below (English/Welsh School years). In countries operating under a different system, it will be open to all students who will be aged 15 and below on August 31st 2023.

If you are interested in expanding ICYD around the world, please get in contact with our wonderful convenors, Charlie Palmer & Charlotte Westwood at icyd.convenor@cus.org
